Thoughtful essentials for cabin stays, full weekends, and gatherings that deserve a little more room.

What we offer

The stay, made easy

Settle in. We have the essentials covered.

01

Sage Cabin stays

Four identical cabins with two queen beds, a full bath, kitchenette, cookware, a gas fireplace, smart TV, BBQ, bedding, towels, toiletries, and free WiFi — plus the communal fire pit by the Lodge.

02

Timber Lodge gatherings

A 20x20 lodge with a commercial kitchen and dining room, plus a covered 12x20 seating area for weddings, reunions, retreats, and team days.

03

Water and forest access

Bring your boat, your fishing gear, or just your walking shoes. The beach, boat launch, Nine Mile Creek, and forest paths are right here.

Before you arrive

Plan your trip

Your cabin's stocked and ready — here's what's worth packing yourself, and where to find it nearby if you need to top up.

What to bring

Food & kitchen

  • Groceries and beverages — the kitchenette (sink, microwave, induction cooktop, fridge/freezer) is ready but not stocked
  • A cooler for the drive in
  • Marshmallows and fixings for the fire pit

Weather & layers

  • A warm layer for the evening — northern nights cool off fast
  • A waterproof or windproof jacket
  • Comfortable footwear, plus water shoes for the beach and creek

Sun & bug protection

  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat
  • Insect repellent — mosquitoes and blackflies are part of boreal lake life, especially late spring through midsummer

Lake, beach & boat launch

  • Swimsuits and towels for the private beach on Nine Mile Creek
  • Life jackets if you're bringing your own boat — Widewater's public launch is close by
  • Fishing gear, plus a valid Alberta licence

Around the cabin

  • A flashlight or headlamp — the dark skies here make for great stargazing
  • Firewood or fire starter, if you don't want to source it locally
  • Phone charger and basic first-aid items

Traveling with pets

  • Food, bowls, bedding, and a leash — cabins are pet-friendly for a nightly surcharge
  • A heads-up to us ahead of arrival so we can note it on your reservation

Wildlife note: keep food, coolers, and garbage secured overnight, and give any wildlife you spot plenty of space.

Frequently asked questions

Answers to what guests ask us most. Don’t see yours? Get in touch.

What’s included in a Sage Cabin?

Each of our four Sage Cabins comes with two queen beds and all bedding, a full bathroom with a stand-up shower plus towels and toiletries, a kitchenette (sink, microwave, induction cooktop, fridge/freezer) with all cookware and dishware, a gas fireplace, a large smart TV, and free WiFi. Outside you’ll find your own BBQ and picnic table, and there’s a communal fire pit by the Lodge for everyone to share. Every cabin is fully municipally serviced.

Are pets allowed?

Yes — we’re happy to welcome your furry family members. A nightly pet surcharge applies; just let us know when you book so we can note it on your reservation.

What does a stay cost?

Sage Cabins are $275/night. One-night stays add a $75 short-stay fee. Check exact pricing and live availability for your dates on our Book page.

What are your check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is at 3:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM. If you need something different, just ask — we’ll do our best to work with you.

What’s your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made at least 7 days before arrival receive a full refund; cancellations within 7 days of arrival are non-refundable. Contact us directly if something comes up — we’re happy to talk through it.

Is there boat or water access?

Yes. Timber Shores sits on Lesser Slave Lake with direct access to Widewater’s only boat launch, just steps from the resort. The property also backs onto Nine Mile Creek, with a private, secluded sandy beach for guests.

Can you host a wedding, retreat, or group event?

Yes. The Timber Lodge is our 20x20 gathering space, with a commercial kitchen and dining room plus a covered 12x20 outdoor seating area — well suited to weddings, reunions, retreats, and team gatherings. Tell us about your group and we’ll help you plan it.

What should I bring?

Your cabin is fully stocked and ready to go, but groceries, warm layers, and bug spray are worth packing yourself. See the full What to Bring checklist above for everything.

How do I book a stay?

The easiest way is directly through our Book page, or you can call us at 780-849-2172.
